Substitute a team player for a league or a multi round event

In multi‑round events, there may be occasions when a player can’t continue and needs to be replaced by another participant.

Unknown Golf treats a team’s score as a collective total rather than an accumulation of individual scores, so it’s important to tell the system which player is leaving and which substitute is taking their place.

Step‑by‑step guide

  1. Open the Round Home
    From your event dashboard, select the round in which the substitution is needed. This takes you to the Round Home page, where you’ll see the lineup and scoring options for that round.
  2. Go to Team Settings
    On the Round Home, select the "Teams" icon.
  3. Select “Assign Player Substitute”
    Within Team Settings, locate the option labeled Assign Player Substitute. This opens a form or dialogue box allowing you to manage substitutions for that team.
  4. Choose the player coming out and the substitute going in
    In the substitution form, you’ll see two fields:
    1. Player subbing out: Choose the player who can no longer participate in the remaining rounds.
    2. Player subbing in: Select the replacement player. The substitute must already be part of your event or community roster.
    • Once you’ve selected both players, confirm the substitution.
  5. Review and save
    After confirming, the system will update the team roster for the remaining rounds. Double‑check that the right players appear in the team list and that the substitution applies only to the intended rounds.

Tips and reminders

Plan substitutions in advance: If you know a player will miss a round, assign their substitute before scores are entered to avoid confusion.

Ensure substitutes are eligible: The substitute should meet any event eligibility requirements (such as handicap or membership status).

One substitute per player per round: Unknown Golf applies each substitution to a specific round. If the original player returns for later rounds, no further action is needed.
