Set up a match play event with round timeframes for play

Setting up a match play event where each round can be played at the players’ discretion within a defined timeframe is done by creating a multi-round event with the following key configurations:

Round Dates

The date for each round represents the final day play is allowed for that round. Once a round’s date has passed, Unknown Golf will automatically lock the round, preventing any updates or changes unless the round is manually unlocked first.

Max Handicap Revision Date

For this type of event, it is common for each match to use the player’s most recent handicap on the day the match is played. To allow handicaps to continue updating throughout the event, ensure the Max Handicap Revision Date in the Overall Event Settings is left blank.

If handicaps should update at the start of each round:

  • Leave the Max Handicap Revision Date in the Overall Event Settings blank
  • Set Calculate Handicap Separately for Each Round to Yes
  • In each round’s settings, set the Max Handicap Revision Date to the first day play is allowed for that round

If handicaps should remain the same for all rounds, set the handicaps as desired and then manually lock all player handicaps, for additional details on locking refer to article Lock or Unlock a Player’s Handicap for an Event

Complete Round 1 Configuration

When you add additional rounds to a multi-round event each additional round added retain the same Event & Leaderboard settings as Round 1, so it is a good practice to complete all of the settings for Round 1 before adding additional rounds.

Bracket View

Unknown Golf does not currently provide a built-in bracket view. Most clubs create their own brackets using Microsoft Excel and upload the file to the Documents section of the event.

Some clubs also use third-party tools such as BracketHQ, which can be embedded into the event to provide a bracket view, for additional information on using BracketHQ reference article Match play bracket and integration with BracketHQ
